Wake

Trauma died
No one mourned at the wake
No one stood by her grave
When she passed
There was nothing left to feel
There was no pain

And we were grateful

I tried to weep
That would have been proper
But it didn't come
My tears must be buried with her
She always did things like that
Steal away what you needed to let go of
Hide it deep inside where you could never find
She hoarded so many things
Dark things
Ugly things
Things that made your skin crawl
I suppose that is why she died

I suppose too
That is why no one mourned
We had to let her go
She would have killed us
